Out at the coast for a day trip or short weekend stay near Lincoln City? Then enjoy this short waterfall hike in the depths of the Coastal Mountains’ forest.
An easy, 3.7-mile round trip walk, this hike is a good option for families; featuring a wide path, little elevation change, and big shady Thimbleberry bushes. During the right season, grab a fatty pink berry along the way for a snack.
Before the big falls’ reveal, cross an expansive suspension bridge 66 feet above the creek. If you are uncomfortable with heights or bridges (like me), watch the backpack of the person in front of you as your cross. It’s worth the view on the other side!

Getting there: Travel south on 101 for about 4 miles from Lincoln City, turn left on Drift Creek Falls Road and drive for 4 miles. Then turn left on NF-17 and follow it for 9.4 miles to the trailhead parking. The road is narrow and winding at times – so take your time.
